What I Am Not
Skinny is a form I will never be.
My screensaver’s a whale.
My scales don’t disagree.
My form will never be
skinny.

Roberto Christiano won the 2010 Fiction Award from The Northern Virginia Review for his story, “The Care of Roses.” His poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner (Pushcart Nominated), Poetry Quarterly, Beltway Quarterly, Silk Road, The Sow’s Ear, New Verse News, and The Washington Post. He has won two consecutive prizes from Writer.org for seasonal poetry. His poetry has been anthologized in The Gavea-Brown Book of Portuguese-American Poetry. Two of his short plays were produced at the Source Theatre in D.C.
